LifeStyle HomeDesign was formed in 1994, with roots that date back to 1946. LifeStyle is really a merger of the home-plan inventories of two large, established companies: HomeStyles Plan Service and Bloodgood Plan Service.

HomeStyles Plan Service of Minneapolis, Minn., was founded in Portland, Oregon, as Home Building Plan Service. This company traces its history to the post-WWII housing boom, and was involved in home design and mail-order blueprints. Particularly popular with customers are the numerous vacation home plans, many in the chalet style with walls of windows for taking in panoramic views. We also offer a wide variety of house plans including Craftsman, Midwestern, Mediterranean, Ranch home plans, One story house plans, Rambler house plans, Traditional home plans, and Mountain view house plans.

Bloodgood Plan Service of Des Moines, Iowa, was founded in 1966 by Jack Bloodgood, F.A.I.A., following his tenure as Building Editor for Better Homes and Gardens magazine. Jack had a hand in developing the mail-order home-plan industry through his involvement with Professional Builder magazine and a weekly plan feature in King Features Syndicate. Jack Bloodgood was recognized by Builder magazine as one of the top 100 persons in the home-building industry in the 20th century.

Two of Jack's partners, Doug Sharp and Doug Buster, are partners in LifeStyle HomeDesign, while they also run, BSB Architects and Planners, with offices nationwide.

The other partners in LifeStyle Home Design are Mark Englund and Jim Verhaest. Mark is a nationally recognized designer and home-design expert. Mark is a frequent speaker, TV and radio commentator and author. He serves as a judge for national and regional award programs. Jim has focused his attention to growing the largest design and modification business in the industry. Jim has been involved with over 5,000 custom design and modification projects world wide. All our plans can be modified to suit your specific needs.

LifeStyle's partners have been regularly involved in several relevant organizations, including the American Institute of Architects, the American Institute of Building Design, and the Council of Publishing Home Designers. They have served on boards, spoken at meetings, and judged home-design competitions.

LifeStyle's subsequent collaborations with builders and house designers in the Midwest have resulted in a grand collection of plans of virtually all sizes and styles. Hanson Builders of Andover, Minn., is an award-winning construction company that has provided LifeStyle with a recent influx of showcase plans with Craftsman inspiration.
